Botanical print from the description of Egypt during the conquests of Napoleon in the late 18th century.

This print is from the then leading work DESCRIPTION DE L'EGYPTE. This work consisted of 13 parts with 892 plates. A special press has been built to make the large prints. Two editions of 1,000 copies have been published.

This engraving is from the 2nd edition known as “Royal Edition”. At the top right, the mark is stamped into the paper, which states: Egypt ancienne et moderne ”C.-L.-F. Panckoucke (Paris).

The sizes are from the copper plate. The paper measures 70 by 55 cm
